After you become an experienced Blackjack player you probably want to improve your game even more with advanced strategy. Once you have a grasp on the basics of Blackjack you are ready to take your game to the next level with these advanced strategy tips.

Tip #1: Know When to Take Insurance

When the dealer’s upcard is an Ace most players avoid insurance because it costs money. However, if you know how to count cards and you know the deck is fairly positive then it is a good idea to take insurance. If the deck count is +4 or greater then you should take out an insurance bet.

Tip #2: Know When to Stand on 16

Players with basic knowledge know they must hit when they have a hand total of 16 against a dealer’s upcard between 7 and an Ace. However, when the deck count is positive it is best to stand on 16 when the dealer has a 10 upcard. This is a more profitable decision because it is more likely that you will be dealt a 10-value card and bust.

Tip #3: Standing on 15 Against Dealer’s 10

This tip is similar to tip #2 – many players just take a card when they are in this position. However, if the deck count is high enough then the best decision is to stand with a 15 against a dealer’s upcard of 10. A higher count is needed compared to the stand on 16 tip but if the deck count is +4 or greater then you should definitely stand on 15 against a dealer’s up card of 10.
